Acting responsibly isn’t just the right thing to do. It makes good business sense, too. Read on to discover how we’re helping communities and giving something back.
How we're helping
Here are just some of the ways we’re bringing those principles to life.
We created the Homebase Garden Academy – which gives people the opportunity to turn their passion for gardening into a rewarding career. This initiative was launched back in 2013 and it has been such a success we’ve now started the Design and Decorating Academy – which gives design enthusiasts the chance to join Homebase for a year of training, learning from industry experts.
Homebase held a successful two-year partnership with the Alzheimer’s Society and its affiliates. This saw us launch the Dianthus ‘Memories’ flower in 2014 – with 25p from every sale going towards supporting people living with dementia.
This partnership also saw us win two gold medals at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Our show gardens ‘Time to Reflect’ and ‘Urban Retreat Garden’ took the top prize in both 2014 and 2015.
Homebase has now teamed up with Macmillan Cancer Support and the Irish Cancer Society. This partnership will last two years, and in the first year we’ve already raised over £500k.
Homebase is a founder member of #GivingTuesday – a global campaign born out of the shopping boom of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This encourages people, charities and businesses to donate time, money or their voice to help a good cause.
