Full accountability for the all ER advice and guidance for all areas of the business (Retail/SSC’s/DC) providing sound, compliant and commercial employee relations advice and guidance, including management of all ET claims. Fully responsible for the ER portal & Helpline, providing analysis and recommendations from reports to help reduce ER activity in our business and reduce risk and cost.
Be the gatekeeper and producer of all policies and procedures, ensuring that they are always up to date, keeping version controls and communicating out when applicable.
Lead and embed with the HR teams our Let’s frameworks across the business, undertaking updates as and when required and supporting the HR analyst with recommendations from the Let’s Listen Engagement survey every 6 months.
Coaching, growing and supporting the HR analyst ensuring that empowerment and ownership is provided, and performance is managed.
What will I be doing?
Leading, advising and guiding the business on all employee relations issues across the business ensuring a commercial, practical approach is undertaken, within legislation
Involvement with our Employee Relations lawyers for high level/complex issues only ensuring that cost is considered when using this approach
Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to develop proactive ways to reduce ER activity from analysis of reporting which may involve training/ guidance or change to policies
Take ownership and be the gatekeeper for all policies and procedures in our business ensuring that they have a clear structure, version control and are easy to find and interpret.
Advising key stake holders on changes in legislation that we need to be considering and being proactive in highlighting this/making changes to policies where applicable
Manage the Let’s frameworks across the business, ensuring that we make updates as and when required and help to embed these into the business with the HR team
Support and guide the HR Analyst on our Exit Interview process ensuring we increase the uptake of these being completed, analyse the results and make recommendations of changes we need to make to improve turnover in our business
Support and guide the HR Analyst with the Let’s listen Engagement Surveys every 6months ensuring that these launch on time, are communicated well, working alongside the HR Analyst to define actions and recommendations to build on engagement scores
Keep a total spend tracker for all Legal costs and settlement costs undertaken so we have a full understanding of costs associated with ER activity
Projects: Own and drive any ER or Performance projects as and when required
What I need to be successful:
Educated to degree level and/or CIPD qualified or equivalent (with a strong emphasis on employee relations)
Previous experience working in an Employee Relations high volume role (ideally retail) is essential
Demonstrable experience of working in a fast paced and commercial environment- retail is desirable
Proven track record of delivering ER proactive initiatives
Exemplary planning and organising skills - able to manage multiple teams/projects/relationships
Numerate, analytical with a strong commercial focus. Exceptional attention-to-detail.
Experience of knowing understanding new employment legislation and how this needs to be interpreted in the business
Strong people management and leadership skills to ensure that the team grow, develop,
are engaged and motivated, but with a constant focus on performance
